Georgian renewable-energy company Enovus delivered the projects and announced their completion in August.
According to Enovus, the company handled the full EPC cycle, including system design, construction and commissioning.
Four rugby facilities equipped with solar
The largest installation is at Rugby Avchala, with a capacity of 238 kW. The system includes 312 solar panels and two inverters.
Rugby Nutsubidze has received a 191 kW system with 308 panels and two inverters.
At Rugby Shevardeni, Enovus installed 169 kW of solar capacity using 272 panels and three inverters.
The fourth project, at Rugby Beliashvili, has a capacity of 155 kW. It includes 260 panels and three inverters.
Together, the four systems provide 753 kW of installed solar capacity.
Enovus says the installations are intended to reduce operating costs and increase the use of renewable electricity across Georgian Rugby’s infrastructure.
renewables.GE contacted the Georgian Rugby Union for additional information about the project and its reasons for investing in solar. The Union had not responded at the time of publication.
Solar use expands beyond industry
The project adds sports infrastructure to the growing range of facilities using on-site solar generation in Georgia.
Factories, warehouses, retail sites and educational institutions are already adopting solar systems. These installations can offset part of their daytime electricity consumption.
Sports facilities can also have significant electricity demand from lighting, offices, training areas and other infrastructure.
The Georgian Rugby projects show how distributed solar is expanding beyond traditional industrial users and into public-facing facilities.
