Final Turbine Installed at Georgia’s 206 MW Ruisi Wind Farm

Installation of all 33 turbines has been completed at the Ruisi Wind Power Project in Shida Kartli, as the 206 MW facility moves toward grid connection and commissioning.

Goldwind has completed the installation of the final wind turbine at the 206 MW Ruisi Wind Power Project in central Georgia, marking a major construction milestone for what is set to become the country’s largest wind farm.

The final turbine was successfully lifted on July 30, according to Goldwind, which is supplying the project’s wind turbines. The company said installation of all 33 units has now been completed and work will continue toward grid connection and project handover.

33 turbines near Gori

The Ruisi project is located in the Gori and Kareli municipalities of Shida Kartli and has a planned installed capacity of approximately 206 MW.

The wind farm uses 33 Goldwind GWH171-6.25 MW turbines, each with a rated capacity of 6.25 MW. Goldwind installed the first turbine at the site in January 2026.

JSC Wind Power is developing the project, while Georgian construction company Peri is identified by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development as the project sponsor.

EBRD is supporting development and construction through long-term financing, including an A loan of up to USD 119 million.

The project is being developed under a memorandum signed with the Government of Georgia in 2021.

Around 600 GWh of annual generation expected

Once fully operational, the wind farm is expected to generate around 600 GWh of electricity annually, according to Goldwind.

The project represents a major expansion of wind generation in Georgia. The country currently has relatively limited installed wind capacity compared with hydropower and thermal generation, making Ruisi one of the most significant additions to Georgia’s renewable-energy portfolio currently under development.

Goldwind describes Ruisi as its first wind power project in Georgia and the largest single wind project in the country to date.

With turbine installation completed, the next key stages will be grid connection, testing and commissioning before the plant begins commercial operation.
